A pop singer had a miscarriage yesterday. I won’t name her, but if you’ve seen the papers today you won’t be able to help knowing who it is, since most of the tabloids have her on the front page. “Tragedy as X loses baby”, say the headlines. Well, I have a relatively narrow definition of tragedy but it is desperately sad for her, and it only seems to get sadder. Perhaps tomorrow the headlines will be “X’s sad situation made if anything worse by being put all over the papers”. How barbarous these people are, them and their prurient, cheese-headed readers.
