Let them reap the wages of their own avarice, not my actual wages

What a guy. Simon Jenkins in the Guardian today is saying what I’ve been saying since the banking Ragnarok started last year: the Governent should have guaranteed bank customers’ money but let the hated shareholders and management suffer in ignominious foundering collapse. The benefits would have been many:

• No losses for the important people, the innocent bank customers.
• Massive losses for the people responsible for all the trouble, the reckless fat cats and the supine shareholders who failed to keep them in check.
• A warning to other banks that if they took stupid, greedy risks there was a good chance they would suffer for their avarice.
• A just reward for other banks that didn’t act quite so recklessly, and so managed to keep going without billions of pounds of your money.
• Much less cost to the taxpayer.

Take the time to read the whole excellent article: it’s called The bankers lied. And Darling, a mere puppet on their string, knows it.

Where are the politicians who agree with the above? Show yourselves, so that we can elect you.
